Ozark County, Missouri

Zach's Mountain is located 4 miles northwest of Gainesville, Missouri, the County Seat of Ozark County. Ozark County, as you might expect, is quite typical of the Ozark Region and included features such as Bull Shoals Lake, Lake Norfork and thousands of acres of the Mark Twain National Forest. Springfield, Mo. is 80.5 miles to the northwest of Zach's Mountain and Mountain Home, Arkansas is 31 miles to the south.

Some towns in the area are:

Gainesville (County Seat) 2000 population: 632

Gainesville is an industrious little town, the County Seat of Ozark County, and a nice location nearby both Bull Shoals and Norfork Lakes.

Besides having all the county offices, there’s a bank, title company, grocery, and newspaper as well as several other businesses, arranged around an old-fashioned town square dominated by the Ozark County Courthouse.

If you’re going to be staying in Gainesville to visit your property, we recommend the Antler Motel, not so much for their rooms, which are clean and adequate, but for the primo pizza dispensed from their small restaurant.

Theodosia  2000 population:  240

Theodosia, Missouri is located in the heart of the Missouri Ozarks.  The 2000 census recorded 240 living in Theodosia, and yet one can still find all the establishments necessary to live, such as banks, churches, auto repair, grocery, restaurants, hair and tanning salons, and even a spa.  The village of Theodosia consists of 1.5 square miles, but the outlying areas offer many activities including hiking, canoeing, lake recreation, fishing, geocashing, golfing, hunting, and shopping.  According to Wikipedia.com, the actress Tava Smiley was born in Theodosia, and the fictional main character Maggie Fitzgerald of the Academy Award winning film Million Dollar Baby, also called Theodosia her hometown.
